Our Staff

North Stars Gymnastics has assembled an incredible staff. Their knowledge, enthusiasm and dedication can be seen in every class.  In order to ensure that your child continues to develop new skills in a fun and productive atmosphere, our staff must continually provide safe and professional instruction.  To support this commitment, all of our instructors are Safety Certified by USA Gymnastics, the governing body of gymnastics in this country.

Owner

Owner Nathaniel Goodale has been involved in the sport of gymnastics for over 30 years, and has been instructing students for more than 15 of those years.  Over the past 10 years he has run successful pre-school, recreational class, and team programs at North Stars.  While here in Vermont he has coached State Champions from Level 4-8, and has had several gymnasts place well at Regional Championships.  Nat was voted USAG Vermont Coach of the Year in 2007.   Prior to moving to Vermont, Nat coached at Capitol City Gymnastics, and Buckeye gymnastics in Columbus, Ohio.  There he was part of a coaching team that has had champions at every level of the sport.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, and raised just south of Boston, Nat began gymnastics at the age of 4, and has been involved with the sport ever since.  As a competitive gymnast in Massachusetts, he was a State and Regional Champion several times, and placed as high as 11th All-Around at USAG Jr. Nationals.  Nat then attended The Ohio State University on a full tuition gymnastics scholarship.  There he was part of one of the strongest NCAA Division 1 teams in the country.  Head Coach Peter Kormann was the US Olympic Team Coach twice, and the then Assistant Coach Miles Avery has now helped coach two Olympic teams as well.  Nat’s teammates Kip Simons, and Blaine Wilson competed in the 1996 Olympic Games.  Kip is a good friend of Nat’s and attended his wedding in 2004.  In 1993, Nat was an All-American on the Still Rings.  One of his favorite moments from gymnastics was his routine from that meet being shown on NBC.

After finishing his gymnastics career at Ohio State, Nat began coaching at Buckeye Gymnastics, and found a love for teaching.  When he wanted to move back to New England to be close to his family, he found that a former co-worker at Buckeye Gymnastics had opened and was looking to sell North Stars Gymnastics in Vermont.  The rest is history.  Nat currently lives in Berlin, with his wife and step-daughter who is a Level 8 gymnast.
